OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2012. President of Turkmenistan received the members of the delegation of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) led by IRU Head Mr. Janusz Lacny, Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Mr. Andrey Vasilyev, and Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA led by Eduard Biryukov, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the International conference on the Prospects of Development of Transport and Transit in Central Asia and the Caspian Region.

Cordially greeting the Turkmen leader, the guests expressed deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for assistance and support to organization of the large international forum, which rich programme as well as the high level of representation of the forum participants testified to the wide recognition of the active position and urgency of the international initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan regarding development of the transport and communications infrastructure between the Caspian and Black Seas, Central Asia, the Caucasus and the Middle East.

It was noted that the agreements achieved in Ashgabat would promote the further active dialogue of particular importance for the world community that was reflected at the Conference Resolution adopted on the outcomes of the forum.

The guests congratulated President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the remarkable date – the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Turkmenistan wishing wellbeing and prosperity to the Turkmen people.

Thanking for the kind words and high assessment of the forum, the Turkmen leader underlined that Turkmenistan paid paramount attention to the integrated development of the regional and interregional transit and transport communications aimed at implementing the huge economic potential, dynamic developing the countries of the Central Asia and the Caspian region, their large-scale integration into the system of the world trading and economic relations. That is the main goal of the initiatives submitted to the UN General Assembly for consideration.

The Turkmen leader noted that organization of the forum was a result of the fruitful partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN, the OSCE, the International Road Transport Union and other authoritative international structures in the name of global peace, progress and prosperity. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined that Turkmenistan would be committed to this constructive cooperation that had received a powerful incentive for its further development at present.

During the meeting the Turkmen leader and his guests exchanged their views on a wide spectrum of issues on the prospects of cooperation, including implementation of international projects aimed at establishing a modern transport and communications infrastructure of the regional and transcontinental significance in Turkmenistan.

In this regard it was noted that the favourable geographic location created all conditions so that Turkmenistan would be an important transit and transport center of the Eurasian continent. The large-sale programmes on development of all types of traffic, construction of new express roads and modern railroads are implemented in the country to use these opportunities.

It was also underlined that the progressive policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that promoted achieving the rapid paces of the economic growth of Turkmenistan and its high international authority served as an important factor for developing the international cooperation in the transport sphere.

In conclusion of the meeting the Turkmen leader and his guests reaffirmed the readiness for enhancing further cooperation with the aimed to achieve particular result.
