OREANDA-NEWS. On December 11, the parliament of Azerbaijan adopted a decree on the abolition of the current martial law regime in the country from Saturday.

This regime began to operate from September 28. In a number of cities and regions of the country, a curfew was also introduced.

“To approve the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan of December 7, 2020 No. 1201 On the Abolition of Martial Law. This decree comes into force from the date of signing,” the press service of the parliament reported.

According to the decree, the martial law on the territory of Azerbaijan, introduced against the background of the escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, ceases to operate at 00:00 on December 12 local time (20:00 on December 11 UTC).

On November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev signed an agreement, according to which hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh ceased from November 10.
