OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus asked the European Union for financial assistance to combat the COVID-19 epidemic and its consequences.

This was announced by Josep Borrell, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. At a press conference in Brussels, he told that Minsk asked for help for the health system and in overcoming the damage to the economy in the light of the current situation, as well as financial assistance. We are studying how we can respond, he added. Borrell specified that the exact amount of assistance has not yet been determined, but it will probably be about 60 million euros.

According to the Ministry of Health of Belarus, 1,066 people with coronavirus infection were registered in the country, 13 people died.
