OREANDA-NEWS. Former presidential candidate in Belarus Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya made a video link to the United Nations Human Rights Council. Yury Ambrazevich, the Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Office in Geneva, demanded to stop her speech.

According to Reuters agency, in her appeal, Tsikhanouskaya stated the need for immediate international intervention in the situation in Belarus. She called for urgently sending a monitoring mission to the country to establish the facts of numerous human rights violations.

The official representative of Minsk spoke out against Tsikhanouskaya's speech. He asked to stop broadcasting video, claiming that it has nothing to do with the essence of the event at the Human Rights Council.

Ambrazevich also stated that Minsk denies allegations of sexual assault on detained protesters and claims of politically motivated arrests.
