OREANDA-NEWS. Democrat Joe Biden intends to nominate his assistant Tony Blinken as a candidate for the post of Secretary of State in the new US administration, and Jake Sullivan for the post of assistant to the president for national security. This was reported by the news agency Bloomberg, citing multiple sources. Journalists’ interlocutors informed that these appointments will be announced in the beginning of the current week.

This information is consistent with the statement of Ron Klain, whom Biden has already appointed chief of staff of the White House. The president-elect will announce key appointments in the administration on November 24, Klain said.

Last Friday, Associated Press named Blinken and Senator Chris Koons the most likely candidates for the post of the State Secretary. Agency’s sources clarified that Blinken has an advantage over Koons. According to a source of the newspaper Hill, Blinken has the best chances of becoming the head of American diplomacy.
