OREANDA-NEWS. Joe Biden, the most likely Democratic candidate for the US presidential election, warned that he would not tolerate interference in the presidential election in the United States by Russia or other states.

This is declared in his statement published on the portal Medium. “Today, I am putting the Kremlin and other foreign governments on notice. If elected president, I will treat foreign interference in our election as an adversarial act that significantly affects the relationship between the United States and the interfering nation’s government,” the politician said. Biden clarified that he means sanctions against the financial sector, freezing assets, retaliatory steps in cyberspace, and other measures, depending on what kind of attack will be carried out.

After Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 US presidential election, American intelligence agencies accused Russia of meddling in electoral processes. In April 2019, the US Department of Justice published a final report, which stated that Trump’s campaign headquarters was not in cahoots with Moscow, but Russia still tried to interfere in the elections. The Russian authorities have repeatedly denied this accusation.
