OREANDA-NEWS. A European Union member country, according to community standards, has a right in emergency case exceptionally conduct a limited purchase of vaccines without European certification, under its own legal responsibility. This was admitted on November 6 by the official representative of the European Commission, Stefan De Keersmaecker, answering a question about Hungary’s intention to buy Russian vaccine against coronavirus of a new type.

According to the EU regulations, there are limited exceptions that allow member states to temporarily use medicines uncertified in the European market in emergency, under the full legal responsibility of these countries, the politician explained.

At the same time, De Keersmaker emphasized that under normal conditions a vaccine that has not passed the full certification cycle cannot enter the European market.
