OREANDA-NEWS. The Spanish Civil Guard detained a former deputy of the State Duma of Russia. This was announced on May 1 by the law enforcement agency on its Twitter page.

The name of the detainee is not given, he was wanted by Interpol, the statement reads. A man is suspected of embezzlement of budget funds. The ex-deputy was arrested in the province of Alicante, where he “enjoyed high-level prosperous life,” the Civil Guard wrote.

According to the local newspaper El Mundo, the name of the detainee is Andrey Murga. From 2011 to 2013, he was a deputy of the Russian State Duma, and from 2013 to 2018, he served as deputy chairman of the government of the Stavropol Krai. In the summer of 2019, Murga was put on the international wanted list. Spanish law enforcement officers received a Russian arrest warrant for him.
