OREANDA-NEWS. Heads of member countries of the Group of Seven called for reform of the World Health Organization (WHO).

This is announced in a statement circulated by the press service of US administration on April 16 after negotiations of the association’s leaders. “The leaders recognized that the G7 nations annually contribute more than a billion dollars to the World Health Organization (WHO), and much of the conversation centered on the lack of transparency and chronic mismanagement of the pandemic by the WHO. The leaders called for a thorough review and reform process,” the message says.

On April 14, President of the United States Donald Trump declared that Washington is stopping funding for WHO because the organization made mistakes and hid data on the spread of coronavirus infection. After that, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the United States had chosen the wrong time to end WHO funding.
