OREANDA-NEWS. In the body of Russian opposition politician Aleksey Navalny hospitalized in Berlin clinic, traces of poison from the Novichok group were found. This is stated in the message of the press service of the German government. German cabinet’s spokesman said that the authorities will inform the Russian Ambassador in Berlin about the latest data from Navalny’s clinical tests.

At the end of August, the magazine Spiegel wrote that the doctors treating Navalny turned to the Bundeswehr toxicology laboratory and the British laboratory Porton Down, which identified the substance that poisoned Sergey and Yulia Skripal in 2018. Prior to this, The Insider, Der Spiegel and Bellingcat wrote that German physicians also consulted with Bulgarian specialists who investigated poisoning of Yemelyan Gebrev in 2015 – then the criminals, presumably, also used the chemical warfare agent Novichok.

Soon after Navalny’s arrival in Berlin for treatment, doctors reported that they had found signs of poisoning with a substance from the group of cholinesterase inhibitors. This group consists of compounds, among which there are natural poisons and chemical warfare agents, including sarin, soman and Novichok.
