OREANDA-NEWS Russia will be invited to participate in the G8 summit if the problems of the Crimea and the Donbass are resolved, spokesman for the German government Stefan Seibert said.

“You know about the current situation, both situations (in the Crimea and Donbass) remain, thus, the decision of the G7 partners remains valid. If the elimination of these reasons is possible, it will be possible to talk about changing the format of the meeting,” Seibert told.

He noted that Germany took note of the fact that US President Donald Trump, after talking with French President Emmanuel Macron, decided to raise the issue of Russia's return to the international summit at the G7 meeting, which will be held from August 24 to 26 in France.
