The emergency committee of the British government, amid the spread of the mutated version of the coronavirus in the country, will meet on December 21 to discuss the decision of some states to limit transport links with the United Kingdom. The representative of the head of the cabinet said that Prime Minister Boris Johnson will chair the meeting.

On Sunday, a number of countries announced their intention to limit passenger air traffic with Great Britain in connection with the spread of a new strain of the coronavirus. Some states took even harsher measures. For example, France decided to suspend for 48 hours the reception of not only flights, but also other passenger transport from the UK. After that, the leadership of the British port in Dover stopped sending passenger and cargo ferries.

According to a statement from the Public Health England, a new strain of coronavirus was identified in the kingdom in September, it began to spread widely in mid-November.
