OREANDA-NEWS. The Times reported that the government of the United Kingdom plans to give the intelligence services more powers to combat espionage.

The expansion of the powers of the intelligence services will be fixed in new legislation, which the cabinet is preparing to pass after the publication on July 21 of a report on the absence of evidence of Russian interference in the Brexit vote of 2016 by the Intelligence and Security Committee of the British Parliament.

According to The Times, the UK government aims to make the conditions in the country more difficult for the enemies’ operations. So, by analogy with the laws of the USA and Australia, an official register of foreign agents may be introduced. Violators will face imprisonment or deportation from Great Britain.
