Head of Georgia’s Ruling Party Announced His Retirement from Politics
OREANDA-NEWS. The founder and chairman of the ruling political party Georgian Dream, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, said that he intends to leave politics forever.
“Among all the political subjects existing today, the ruling team is really the best and the team of no alternative. I am convinced that a team of these people will be able to adequately replace my work, authority and skills. That is why I believe that my mission has been accomplished. I made the decision to completely leave politics and completely remove myself from the reign of government. I am leaving the post of party chairman… and returning to the old way of life that I led until 2011… I am leaving politics as a winner, with a sense of pride and gratitude to the people,” Ivanishvili wrote.
Georgian Dream was founded in 2012. Currently, it is the ruling party in Georgia, owning 89 of 150 seats in the national parliament.
