OREANDA-NEWS. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced his plans to discuss with Russian leader Vladimir Putin the situation related to the closure by Russia of the border with Belarus for people.

“How can such decisions be made? Without consulting, confront us with the accomplished fact. This is not clear to me. And the most interesting is the following: if you close the border, it’s not the government’s business. This decision should be made by the country’s president,” Lukashenko said. The Belarusian politician called on official Moscow and residents of the two countries not to create a panic. “There is no need for unnecessary movements that would complicate the difficult relations between the two states,” he noted.

Earlier, Russian President’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Russia is counting on Belarus to understand the measures introduced because of coronavirus spread.
