OREANDA-NEWS. Before the elections to the State Duma in 2021, the political party United Russia plans to associate with the All-Russian People’s Front (ONF) and change its name.

This was reported by the online newspaper Meduza with reference to sources in the party, as well as to interlocutors close to the presidential administration and the government. The article says that in the near future the party plans to hold a unification congress with the ONF, where the charter, name and structure of the party will be changed. According to the publication, the goal of change is to get rid of the negativity associated with United Russia. Sociologists found out that in February 2020 the party’s rating was 32.7 %, while in June 2018, before the announcement of raising the retirement age, it was 48 %. As a source told Meduza, the word “united” will be removed from the party’s denomination, but the word “Russia” will remain.

Besides, the new structure will not have a single leader; instead, three co-chairs will appear. So, former Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who holds the post of a head of United Russia, will cease to lead the party.
