OREANDA-NEWS  “As a result of the measures taken by the State Committee of National Security, on August 2, 2021, the former President Askar Akayev was taken to the city of Bishkek. After that, he was immediately transferred to the Interdepartmental Investigation Group, "Sputnik Kyrgyzstan reports, citing the press service of the State Committee of National Security.

According to the ministry, Akayev was taken to the building of the special service together with his son Ilim. “With the participation of Akayev, the necessary investigative actions are being carried out within the framework of the criminal case on the Kumtor field” , -the message says.

The first president of Kyrgyzstan, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Askar Akayev held a leading position since the republic gained sovereignty in 1990. He was dismissed as a result of the Tulip Color Revolution on March 24, 2005 and left the country.
