OREANDA-NEWS. The State Electoral Commission of Croatia reported that ex-prime minister, candidate of the largest opposition force, the Social Democratic Party, Zoran Milanovic won the presidency.

In the second round, Milanovic competed with the incumbent president, candidate from the ruling Croatian Democratic Union, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.

“According to the results of the calculation of data from 100 % of the polls, Milanovic received 1 million 34 thousand votes, Grabar-Kitarovich received 929 thousand. The turnout was about 55 %,” the Electoral Commission informed.

3.855 million voters were registered. They participated in election in more than 6.5 thousand polling stations within the country and abroad. Over 24 thousand domestic and foreign observers monitored the voting process. The election was held without incidents or violation.
