OREANDA-NEWS  President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko explained before the meeting with the Head of the European Council Donald Tusk in Brussels what he meant when he said about the "war" in connection with the events in the Kerch Strait.

"This is a clear act of Russian aggression against independent and sovereign Ukraine. And the reaction of the whole world is absolutely clear that Russia is in complete isolation," Poroshenko said.

At the same time, the Ukrainian President did not answer the question of journalists whether he expects new sanctions from the EU in connection with the events around the Kerch Strait, turned around and went with Tusk to the closed zone of negotiations for journalists.

Moscow does not agree with Poroshenko's assessment of the incident in the Kerch Strait. The Kremlin said that it is a provocation of Kiev, arranged on the eve of the elections, not the war.

Three ships of the Ukrainian Navy-Berdyansk, Nikopol and Yana Kapu - violated the Russian border on November 25, entered the temporarily closed water area of the Russian territorial sea and moved from the Black sea to the Kerch Strait. They maneuvered dangerously, did not obey the legitimate demands of the Russian authorities.

As a result, 24 Ukrainian sailors were detained and a criminal case was opened on illegal crossing of the state border of Russia.

Vladimir Putin called the incident a provocation, noting that among the crew members of the Ukrainian ships that violated the Russian border, there were two employees of the security service of Ukraine, who actually led this special operation. Putin stressed that Russian border guards performed their functions to protect the state border.

Member of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Olga Timofeeva in a conversation with a correspondent of the Federal news Agency stressed that Kiev has violated the current Russian legislation, for which he paid. The parliamentarian advised Poroshenko not to confuse the cause and effect in an attempt to justify the words about the "war" with Russia. In addition, she drew attention to the close interaction of the Russian Parliament with the legislative authorities of other countries.
