OREANDA-NEWS. The newspapers Gazeta Wyborcza reports that the President of Poland Andrzej Duda will not go to the World Holocaust Forum in Israel.

“President Andrzej Duda will not avail of the invitation to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, organized by the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem on January 22 and 23,” the publication says, adding that one of the main reasons for Duda’s refusal is that "the main guest should be Russian President Vladimir Putin.”

According to the newspaper, another problem is that the event in Jerusalem was organized with the participation of Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, who said earlier that the Poles “drank in anti-Semitism with mother’s milk.”

It is also noted that in Poland, the commemoration in Israel is seen as an alternative to the celebration of the liberation of the concentration camp which will be held in Auschwitz on January 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
