OREANDA-NEWS. On December 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he had not yet made a decision on whether he would take part in the presidential election in 2024.

“I have not yet made a decision for myself whether I go to the election in 2024 or not,” the head of state said during a press conference. At the same time, the politician noted that he has formal permission from citizens for this step. According to Putin, everything that has been done within the framework of amending the Constitution of the Russian Federation should be assessed from the point of view of whether it will benefit the country.

In March, the State Duma of Russia proposed an amendment to the Constitution, according to which the current and former presidents of the country can run for the post of head of state, regardless of the time they have already spent in this post at the time the amendment entered into force.
