OREANDA-NEWS. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin stated that the oncological diseases are a challenge for all mankind.

“In order to answer it, to achieve a real breakthrough, broad international cooperation is needed to exchange the best clinical practices, to seek innovative measures based on an interdisciplinary approach, integrating the capabilities of nuclear and digital technologies, the latest achievements in the sphere of biology, chemistry, genetics, and other brunches of the fundamental science,” – the welcoming telegram of Putin to the participants and guests of the second International Forum of Oncology and Radiology published on the Kremlin’s official website says.

The President emphasized that Russia is open for a partnership in this sphere. He noted that the building an advanced, primarily focused on the interests of the patient system of cancer care, prevention, timely diagnostication of the diseases and the effective treatment should become a priority in the state policy in the sphere of public health. Putin wrote, that coordination between the authorities, doctors, scientists, volunteers and non-profit organizations is necessary to achieve the results.

Earlier in September, the chief oncologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russia, the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Kaprin said that over the past 10 years, the sick rate of cancer has increased by 23.7 % while the mortality rate has not changed – it is 197.9 cases per 100 thousand people. “Unprecedentedly large funds have been allocated to fight cancerous tumors,” the representative of the Ministry of Health said.
