OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law allowing foreigners to obtain Russian citizenship without giving up a foreign one.

Besides, some categories of people will be able to receive citizenship summarily. The law exempts them from the requirement to live in Russia for five years and have a legal source of livelihood. The simplified procedure may be applied to the citizens of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Ukraine, foreigners with at least one Russian parent who lives in Russia, foreigners having a spouse with Russian citizenship and common children in marriage, people living in Russia and recognized as a native speaker of the Russian language, as well as those who had USSR citizenship, now live in the territories of the countries that were parts of the Soviet Union and did not receive citizenship of these states.
