OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree amending the Strategy of the State National Policy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2025. In particular, the document is supplemented by two sections - on targets and expected results. In addition, some other points of the Strategy, which has been in force since 2012, have been clarified.

According to the decree published on Friday, the targets in the updated Strategy are, in particular, the proportion of citizens who positively assess the state of interethnic relations, the proportion of citizens who note the absence of discrimination against themselves on the basis of national, linguistic or religious affiliation, as well as the proportion of citizens who do not have a negative attitude towards foreign citizens.

Among the expected results of the implementation of the Strategy are strengthening the unity of the multinational people of the Russian Federation and the all-Russian civil identity, the formation of a single cultural space of the country, prevention, peaceful resolution of conflict situations in the field of interethnic and interreligious relations, the creation of conditions for social and cultural adaptation of foreigners in Russia. In addition, the expected results include strengthening the status of the Russian language as the state language, the language of interethnic communication and one of the official languages of international organizations, providing conditions for the preservation, study and development of the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation, as well as support for the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation, including the creation of the necessary conditions for the preservation and protection of their native habitat and traditional way of life.

According to the decree, the section of the Strategy on the current state of interethnic relations, among other things, was supplemented by a new paragraph on the admission of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian Federation. "A significant event for strengthening the all-Russian civil identity was the adoption of the Republic of Crimea in the Russian Federation and the formation of new subjects in the Russian Federation - the Republic of Crimea and the Federal city of Sevastopol. The resulting Patriotic upsurge contributed to the implementation of measures of the state national policy of the Russian Federation, the activation of the participation of civil society institutions in the harmonization of interethnic and interreligious relations, reducing the risks and threats of interethnic conflicts in the country," the updated version of the Strategy says.

In October 2018, the President of the Russian Federation noted that the Strategy of the state national policy until 2025 needs changes and should be synchronized with the may decree.
