OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to introduce the post of deputy chairman of the Security Council of the country and offer it to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who announced resignation of the government.

The head of state noted that Medvedev dealt with security and defense matters earlier, he was the president and headed the government for the past eight years. “I consider it possible and asked him to deal with such issues in the future. I think it is possible and will do it in the near future – introduce the position of deputy chairman of the Security Council,” Putin resumed.

According to Article 111 of the Constitution of Russia, after the resignation of the prime minister, the president must submit a candidacy for this post to the State Duma within two weeks.
