OREANDA-NEWS. The National Council of Romanians in Ukraine complained to the authorities of Bucharest about the “forced Ukrainization” that is currently being carried out by official Kiev.

The organization’s appeal is addressed to a number of Romanian state institutions and officials: heads of the parliament and parliamentary committees, the prime minister, the president and bodies responsible for foreign policy and, in particular, Romanians living abroad.

The statement claims that the Romanians, who number about 500 thousand in Ukraine (the second largest national minority in the country after Russians), are suffering from “well-organized, systematic process of forced Ukrainization in all spheres of public policy.” Specifically, the National Council points to the violation of the right of Romanians to education in their native language, which, in its opinion, is nothing but “cultural and linguistic genocide.”
