OREANDA-NEWS. Russia does not refuse to help foreign partners, including member countries of the European Union and the United States, in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection. This was announced on May 12 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov after a meeting with his colleagues from the Commonwealth of Independent States held in a video conference format. “We accept assistance from foreign countries, and we are ready to accept it from EU members. We already accept support and assistance from the USA,” Lavrov said.

The diplomat also noted that Russian officials had never made statements that the EU is unable to deal with the spread of the new disease. “I do not remember a single statement by Russian officials that the EU was somehow inadequate to cope with the pandemic,” the Minister said. Lavrov stated that Moscow is “in solidarity with the European Union, as with all other countries.”
