Russian Foreign Ministry Called the Approximate Date for the Summit of the Big Five of the UN Security Council
OREANDA-NEWS. The summit of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council may be held at the anniversary session of the General Assembly in New York in September 2020. This was announced on February 11 by the director of international organizations of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Pyotr Ilyichev.
“The French confirmed it, the Chinese confirmed it, we are waiting for an answer from the Americans and the British. Other options are not visible, what comes to mind is the anniversary session in September in New York, as all the leaders will be there,” the diplomat said.On January 23, at the World Holocaust Forum in Israel, Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the five UN founders to hold a meeting and search for collective answers to current challenges and threats. According to the politician, these countries have a special responsibility for the preservation of civilization, therefore they must do everything to protect peace in the world.
