OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the information about the fact that mining company Lobaye Invest with the participation of Russian private capital in the Central African Republic (CAR) is conducting joint business with militants in the territories they seized. The agency’s statement, calling this information inaccurate, was published on the official website of the Ministry.

According to the release, the CAR authorities “drew attention to the information that some economic operators are allegedly extracting minerals in areas still controlled by militants, feeding in such a way their anti-government activities. In particular, the Central African company Lobaye Invest, which was established with the participation of Russian private capital, is mentioned in this connection. We are forced to note in this context that such information is false and therefore it can be attributed to the category of political command or be considered a display of unfair competition,” the report says.

Russian diplomats, referring to the data of the Russian Embassy in the Central African Republic, noted that the licenses issued by the Central African authorities to Lobaye Invest apply exclusively to the territory under the control of the legitimate government. “They provide an acceptable level of security. Nevertheless, the development of natural raw materials has not yet begun,” the Ministry wrote. The agency also noted that any mining activity in the republic will be carried out in accordance with local legislation for the benefit of the people of this country.
