OREANDA-NEWS. Two Russian warships illegally entered Swedish territorial waters on September 14. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Sweden.

“Two Russian warships entered Swedish territorial waters on September 14, southwest of Gothenburg. Since the ships did not have a permit, the Ministry of Defense regards this as a violation of the order of access to territorial waters,” the statement says.

The country’s Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist said in an interview with the television channel SVT that the vessels were in Swedish territorial waters for 11 minutes. “This is, of course, a crime, and this is a violation of Swedish territory,” the politician said. According to him, the Russian military was contacted by radio, after which they left the territorial waters of Sweden. “This is a violation. This is unacceptable under existing rules and therefore we must respond. So, a representative of the Russian Embassy was summoned,” Hultqvist resumed.
