OREANDA-NEWS The name of Vladimir Putin’s successor as president will not be known soon, but he is currently looking for a new generation among politicians for someone who can continue his work.

This was stated by the head of VTsIOM Valery Fedorov.

According to him, the successor of the head of state can become a man of the 40-50 year old generation, modern, dynamic, with a strong character, with experience in public administration. But most importantly, Fedorov told Rossiyskaya Gazeta, he must be a patriot who does not sacrifice the sovereignty of the Russian Federation and the status of a great power for the sake of overseas "cookies."

The director of VTsIOM added that Putin’s successor should be responsible, able not only to govern the country, but also to represent it with dignity at the international level.

He also recalled that Putin had said in the 2003 elections that he intended to prepare a successor before the end of his term of office and present it to the Russians. Under the Constitution, his powers expire in 2024.

Fedorov noted that it could be “corrected,” but the Russian leader had repeatedly made it clear that he was not ready to change it for himself.
