OREANDA-NEWS. Bloomberg agency reports that US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper decided to suspend several construction projects abroad worth 545 million dollars, most of which are based in Europe and should counter “Russia’s aggression.” The Pentagon plans to allocate these funds for the building of the wall on the border with Mexico.

According to journalists, in particular, these are projects in Norway, Germany, Spain and other European countries totaling more than 200 million dollars. All these facilities, according to Bloomberg, are part of the European Deterrence Initiative, developed to strengthen US allies and undermine Russia’s growing influence on the continent. Among other foreign projects that may be delayed, Esper mentioned the construction of an object on a base located in the Marshall Islands and the maintenance of the American prison Guantanamo located in Cuba.
