OREANDA-NEWS. The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania adopted a resolution addressing the world community on the situation in Belarus. The document says that Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is the elected leader of the Belarusian people, while the incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko is called the illegal leader who de facto annexed the country.

The deputies called on “to support the demand of the elected leader of the Belarusian people Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and the Coordination Council created on her initiative as the only legal representatives of the Belarusian people to hold new, transparent and democratic parliamentary and presidential elections in the country.”

At the same time, the parliamentarians suggested assessing the actions of Lukashenko “aimed at legitimizing his rule and concluding new international agreements with Russia that limit the sovereignty of the Belarusian people, as a crime against the nation, as invalid, unenforceable and not recognized by the international community measures.” The authors of the document proposed to demand from Russia not to interfere in the internal policy of Belarus and not to support the “illegitimate leader.”
