OREANDA-NEWS. Former presidential candidate in Belarus, leader of the opposition, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said that opponents of the current regime, if they come to power, will revise the terms of the latest agreements with Russia.

“We have always advocated and are in favour of friendly and partnership relations with Russia,” Tsikhanouskaya added in a statement published on her official Telegram channel. According to the politician, “no matter on what Alexander Lukashenko negotiates, since he has lost the support of the Belarusian people,” therefore the new authorities, according to Tsikhanouskaya, will need to revise all deals and agreements. She also stressed that “independence and sovereignty cannot be a subject of bargaining.”

These statements were made against the backdrop of a visit to Minsk by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. After a meeting with the diplomat, President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko said that the authorities would like to have very close, fraternal relations with Russia.
