OREANDA-NEWS. The government of Ukraine decided to terminate the memorandum between Kiev and Moscow on cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

It is noted that the implementation of the decision will create “additional legal and political grounds for protecting the national interests of Ukraine in the conditions of armed aggression of the Russian Federation.”

On April 1, 2019, at the initiative of Kiev, the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Russia and Ukraine also ceased to be in force. It was claimed that, having carried out armed aggression against Ukraine, Russia violated the Treaty. This agreement was signed in 1997 for a period of ten years (with the subsequent automatic extension of the document, if the parties do not oppose it). It confirmed the principle of strategic partnership, recognition of the inviolability of existing borders, respect for territorial integrity and mutual obligations not to use their territory to the detriment of each other’s security.
