OREANDA-NEWS. Ukraine blocked at the UN a resolution on easing the sanctions regime proposed by Russia. This was announced by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.

According to the politician, Russia put to the vote a new document, the essence of which coincided with what was written in the previous Russian resolution that was blocked on April 3 by the United States, the European Union, Ukraine and several other countries. At that time, Russia proposed to abandon unilateral sanctions, bypassing the UN Security Council, in order to ensure access of all countries to food and medicine during a pandemic. The document was signed by 28 UN member states.

“Russia does not abandon attempts to adopt manipulative resolutions in the UN General Assembly,” Kuleba stated, noting that the text of the new document was “corrected,” but its essence has not changed. “Ukraine could not support such a resolution,” he added, promising to block Russian resolutions to limit sanctions in the future.
