OREANDA-NEWS. RIA Novosti and TASS news agencies report that the United States is closely watching Rosneft’s actions in Venezuela being concerned with them. Support for the regime of Nicolas Maduro may lead to imposing restrictive measures against the Russian oil company.

According to Reuters and Bloomberg, a White House representative said that the US plans to increase pressure on the regime of Maduro in the next 30 days. Both agencies clarify that the official made a statement about monitoring the activities of Rosneft during a telephone conference with journalists on condition of anonymity.

RIA Novosti reports that it was told by Robert O’Brien, US President’s National Security Advisor. TASS writes about “a representative of the US administration of high rank” who did not rule out the possibility that sanctions could be applied against Rosneft.

Earlier, the United States accused Rosneft of purchasing oil from the Venezuelan state-owned company PDVSA, contrary to the sanctions imposed on it. Rosneft denies this allegation.
