OREANDA-NEWS.  In tribute to Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton pays tribute to the life and legacy of the creative genius with the launch of its Spring-Summer 2022 collection in Miami on 1 December.

The designer passed away of heart cancer on 28 November. Louis Vuitton was the first to announce this on their Instagram, and the following day announced that they would be holding a tribute show to the designer.

"This show was meant to be a stanza rather than a chapter in Virgil Ablo's work for Louis Vuitton," writes critic Luke Litsch, who attended the show in person. However, the collection shown in Miami could well be called a brief summary of the designer's head at the fashion house. It quite literally sums up all the designer's favourite pieces: monochrome trouser suits with interesting theylorings, statement accessories with an expressive LV monogram, headwear as an important part of the look and a touch of streetwear.

All of Ablo's friends flocked to pay their respects and see his latest collection: Bella Hadid (wearing Off-White x Nike trainers, on which Virgil once wrote Virgil was here in orange marker), Kim Kardashian and Kanye West (wearing images from Ablo's second collection for Louis Vuitton, fall-winter 2019), Luca Sabbath, Crevin Frost, artist Delfin and many others who have worked or just interacted with the designer. And 2/3 Migos Quavo and Offset and Kid Cady walked the catwalk.
