OREANDA-NEWS. Canadian musician Neil Young filed a lawsuit against US President Donald Trump, claiming that the politician’s team used the songs Rockin’ in the Free World and Devil’s Sidewalk at a rally in Tulsa without the author’s permission.

Young notes that the compositions were also used during Trump’s campaign since 2015. “The Campaign has willfully ignored the Plaintiff’s telling it not to play the Songs and willfully proceeded to play the Songs despite its lack of a license,” a complaint to the Southern District Court of New York reads.

Young stressed that he cannot allow his music to be used as a theme “for a divisive, un-American campaign of ignorance and hate.”

Earlier, musicians have already resented the actions of the Trump administration, which used songs without permission. Mick Jagger, Pharrell Williams, Adele, Regina Spektor, Steven Tyler and others signed an open letter urging political parties to legitimately use intellectual property.
