OREANDA-NEWS. OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group) (RTS: OMZZ; LSE: OMZD; OTC: UHMVY) reports that Sergey Chervyakov, General Director, OMZ-Crushing and Milling Equipment, took part in the launch of operations of a new crushing plant at Severny Mining and Processing Plant (Severny GOK).

The crusher was developed by Uralmashzavod on the basis of engineering by OMZ-Crushing and Milling Equipment (both companies are the part of OMZ-Uralmash Division).

According to the press service of OMZ, the crushing plant at Severny GOK, a part of Metinvest Holding Company, Ukraine, which also includes Centralny Mining and Processing Plant (Centralny GOK), is the biggest mining project in Ukraine in 15 years. Viktor Yanukovich, Prime Minister of Ukraine, attended the launch ceremony.

The crusher produced by OMZ, the main unit of the crushing plant, functions on the basis of cyclic technology. Cyclic technology is the newest and most promising technology being used by major mining companies. The technology provides for installation of a crusher in the mine and transportation of the ore from the mine by band conveyor instead of by truck. This reduces costs and time needed for ore transportation. In particular the usage of the crusher at Severny GOK will allow full investment recovery within a year.

Mr. Chervyakov said, “Currently the crusher is installed at middle depth of the Pervomaisky mine. In two-three years when the mine is deeper, and ore transportation by truck will be unprofitable, we plan to build and install another cyclic complex practically at the bottom of the mine. Moreover, next year we intend to supply our equipment to Yuzhny GOK, a Urkainian company located in Krivoy Rog region.”
