OREANDA-NEWS. June 09, 2016. A series of live music events — including the Dave Matthews Band 25th Anniversary Tour, festivals with music icons such as Willie Nelson and venues like Live Nation’s Xfinity Center — will pair concertgoers with the environmental efforts of REVERB and Nalgene reusable water bottles to reduce single-use plastic waste and encourage fans to take positive action for the environment.

To address the huge amount of disposable water bottle waste created at concerts, Nalgene Outdoor Products, maker of reusable water bottles and food storage containers, and REVERB, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization leading the environmental movement within the music industry, have teamed up to provide reusable water bottles to music fans during the 2016 summer and fall live music season.

This 2016 concert and festival season marks the third consecutive year that Nalgene Outdoor has partnered with REVERB. New for 2016, the duo are challenging concertgoers to #RockNRefill with a donation in exchange for a custom Nalgene bottle on-site and then using social media to share the many ways they make eco-conscious choices to refill, reduce and reuse at the music events and in everyday life. Suggested donations are expected to raise a minimum of \\$500,000 for environmental and social causes, and divert as many, if not more, single-use bottles from landfills.

“Nalgene Outdoor is a natural partner for REVERB’s mission. The #RockNRefill program directly engages bands and fans to ditch disposable bottles, which is one of the most widespread causes of plastic waste at concerts,” said Adam Gardner of the band GUSTER and co-founder of REVERB.

Dave Matthews Band has worked with REVERB for the past 12 years to promote sustainable practices on their tours and further connect fans with the environment. Nalgene Outdoor and REVERB’s combined efforts during the band’s previous three summer tours has helped Dave Matthews Band raise \\$300,000 for community causes. To date, the first dozen shows of their current tour has raised over \\$40,000.

The American-made Nalgene bottles are produced in Rochester, New York, and will be used by REVERB to support nonprofit fan engagement platforms championed by REVERB’s artist partners. Fans will be able to connect with and support charitable causes by donating money in exchange for a custom Nalgene bottle at REVERB’s Eco-Village at shows and festivals across the country. Thanks to REVERB’s free water stations, fans will be able to “Refill Not Landfill” with Nalgene Outdoor bottles and eliminate the need for single-use water bottles.

“#RockNRefill empowers concertgoers to take the water bottle they receive at the music festival and share the many ways Nalgene bottles fit into everyday life,” said Eric Hansen, director, Nalgene Outdoor Products. “It’s particularly exciting to partner with REVERB and benefit local organizations important to artists.”

REVERB is working with national tours, festivals and season-long venue programs during the summer and fall of 2016 including such headliners as Maroon 5, Dave Matthews Band, NEEDTOBREATHE and Dead & Company; concert venues like Xfinity Center, Darling’s Waterfront Pavillion, Thompson’s Point, and The Maine State Pier; and annual festivals including Forecastle, California Roots, Bass Center, Mountain Jam 2016 and Willie Nelson’s “Luck Reunion.”
