OREANDA-NEWS High-precision equipment for conducting examinations has been almost completely replaced by Russian suppliers under sanctions, the head of the Forensic Center (ECC) told Interfax Russian Interior Ministry Police Lieutenant General Vadim Kazmin.

"Most of the import substitution issues have already been resolved. Domestic materials are being purchased from Russian suppliers," he said.

According to him, state contracts for the purchase of high-precision equipment and logistics this year "amounted to a significant amount."

"The production of the most demanded types of examinations - fingerprint, ballistic, physico-technical, genetic, linguistic, radio engineering - has been fully ensured," Kazmin stressed.

He called equipping the ECC units in the new territories with modern forensic equipment a priority task for the Ministry.

"The production of examinations in two new DNA laboratories in Donbass is gaining momentum. In March and October last year, DNA laboratories were put into operation in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions. Laboratories for the production of research on narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors are functioning with a full load," he noted.

According to Kazmin, two more new areas of expert research are also being prepared in the new territories - phonoscopic (research of sound recordings designed to identify a person by voice and speech on it - IF) and radio engineering (research of a radio electronic device - IF).
