OREANDA-NEWS. July 13, 2016. UT is the only Baltic university among the top 3% of the world’s universities, placing among the first 400 in two world’s most reputable university rankings (QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings).

Centre of World University Rankings, which publishes its university ranking since 2012, published this year’s results on Monday and UT as the best Baltic university is at 506, between the University of Konstanz (Germany) and Brescia University (Italy). Vilnius University is the other Baltic university in the ranking at 739. Last year UT ranked 537 and the year before that 556.

CWUR ranking takes into consideration the number of a university's alumni who have won major international awards, how influential a university’s employees are, the number of a university's alumni who have held CEO positions at the world's top companies, the number of research papers by a university’s members published in reputable journals, the number of highly-cited research papers, the broad impact of a university and patents granted to a university. The strongest aspect of UT was the university’s faculty, followed by major international awards and broad impact. UT received the lowest score in alumni employment and publications.

The most successful university in the ranking is Harvard University, followed by Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The top ten included eight US and two UK universities.
