It Became Known How Long the Russian Nasal Vaccine Against Coronavirus Works
OREANDA-NEWS. Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, told RIA Novosti that the new Russian nasal vaccine against Covid-19 will need to be vaccinated no more than once every six months.
"The question of the frequency of vaccination in this case also requires study. Perhaps, it will be possible to be vaccinated with a nasal vaccine less often," he said.
Earlier, the director of the Gamaleya center said that vaccination with Sputnik V, and then revaccination with a nasal vaccine, presumably, could guarantee full protection from the severe course of coronavirus infection, as well as from infection with Covid-19 in general.
In mid-October, the Ministry of Health gave permission to conduct clinical trials of a new nasal vaccine against coronavirus (it was named SPRAY 08-Gam-COVID-Vac-2021), which, like Sputnik-V, is developed by the Gamalea Center.
The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said that she was recommended a nasal vaccine as an adjunct to vaccination with a traditional injectable drug. She assured that, according to doctors, the nasal vaccine cannot be effective without the main vaccination.
It is recalled that vaccination was and remains the most reliable way to protect against coronavirus infection. According to the head of the Russian Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko, among seriously ill COVID-19, the percentage of vaccinated patients is less than 0.03 percent, while almost all patients with coronavirus in hospitals are unvaccinated citizens. At the end of September, WHO announced a direct connection between the possibility of a lethal outcome of the disease from SARS-CoV-2 with the refusal of preventive vaccination.
