OREANDA-NEWS The development of a robot to help astronauts in outer space under the Cosmorobot project has been suspended due to the sequestration of the Roskosmos budget, and work will not resume in the near future.

The robot was designed to move goods weighing up to 200 kg on the surface of the Scientific and Energy Module, the launch of which at that time was planned for 2019, and now is shifted to 2022. The robot had to be able to install and remove equipment, connect electrical cables, "inspect" the outer surface of the station through cameras.

It was reported that in 2018 an experimental model of the Cosmorobot will be created, and in 2019 it will begin to undergo ground tests. The cost of the Cosmorobot project, according to the contract concluded in 2016, amounted to 2.4 billion rubles.
