OREANDA-NEWS.The research team took for the experiment the mice, the brain structure of which is similar to the human. Initially, rodents disabled melanin receptors, responsible for the phase of REM sleep, while the temperature in the room began to change. As it turned out, the mice could not sleep in the heat, and in the cold - sleep was interrupted, regardless of the concentration of melanin.

In the second part of the experiment, the test subjects cut off MCH neurons, leaving them to sleep in different temperature conditions. This time, the rodents did not react to hunger and heat, while continuing to sleep.

This proved the role of MCH neurons in sleep, as well as the effect of optimal temperature for productive sleep. So, experts recommend to ventilate the bedroom before bedtime, and keep the temperature at 30 degrees - if you sleep without a blanket.
