OREANDA-NEWS. To avoid thrombosis, doctors prescribe anticoagulant therapy to patients with coronavirus, but those who have had the disease without symptoms should also monitor their blood clotting rate - do a coagulogram, said the chief physician of the Filatov City Clinical Hospital Valery Vechorko in his Telegram channel.

According to him, thrombosis is one of the most serious complications after coronavirus, they occur in 20-30% of cases and can lead to strokes and heart attacks, but the direct connection between the two diseases remains to be studied.

"To avoid it (thrombosis), during treatment, we prescribe anticoagulant therapy to patients - drugs of the heparin group or new oral coagulants. This group of drugs allows the prevention of thrombosis, especially of the pulmonary arteries, and death from their formation. It should be noted that aspirin and others the drugs showed less efficiency, "Vechorko said.

The doctor noted that postcoid syndrome can appear within a month from the moment the first symptoms of the disease appear, especially if there were prerequisites for this in the anamnesis: atrial fibrillation, varicose veins of the lower extremities, thrombophlebitis and other diseases of the cardiovascular system. He recommended to monitor the state of health for a month after discharge.

"It is also necessary to monitor the state of health of those who have undergone mild covid, even if the patient was healthy and did not complain of well-being. Some time after discharge, it is advisable to do a coagulogram. This test allows you to assess blood clotting. In a negative scenario, it is necessary to continue taking anticoagulant therapy. until the condition returns to normal. In some cases, the test will have to be taken again after two to three weeks. Only a doctor can assess the state of health and blood count and prescribe or interrupt therapy, this must be understood, "Vecherko said.

He also advised drinking plenty of fluids, preferably water, to prevent blood clots, especially in hot weather.
