OREANDA-NEWS. The number of deaths from coronavirus has begun to decline worldwide due to mass vaccination of the population and the achievements of doctors who have learned to fight the disease more effectively, said virologist Anatoly Altstein. According to him, mortality has been reduced, including through the use of drugs that dilute the blood and relieve inflammation, «360» media reports.

«Vaccination affects the coronavirus, that's for sure. If we look at vaccination in Europe, the vaccinations have had a significant impact. This is what catches the eye the most. But there are other factors», Altstein said.

He added that the pandemic is moving around the world in waves and the greatest mortality was recorded precisely in the first wave of COVID: in April, May and June 2020. According to him, the mortality rate ranged from 5% to 15% worldwide, but now this figure has fallen to 2%.

«That is, there was a tendency that without a vaccine, the mortality rate was maximum in the first months, and then it decreased and was preserved at the level of 2%», the virologist explained. According to Altstein, now doctors have learned to resist the coronavirus more effectively, using new drugs that thin the blood and relieve inflammation in the body.
