OREANDA-NEWS. After the appearance of the delta strain, the tactics and strategy of vaccination against coronavirus have changed, said Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health.

"It is necessary to constantly maintain a high level of correspondingly protective antibodies in the blood," he said at the Forum of Social Innovations of the Regions.

According to him, after being vaccinated with Sputnik V, the spectrum of "protective antibodies" is much wider than that of other drugs.

"The effectiveness of the protection of Sputnik V, according to the Ministry of Health, today ranges from 83 to 94 percent, depending on what indicators and how to count," he added.

As Gintsburg pointed out, the Russian Ministry of Health very quickly reacted to the changes in the epidemiological situation by issuing instructions according to which it is necessary to undergo revaccination with Sputnik Light every six months.

To make the coronavirus manageable, 70-75% of the population must be vaccinated, the scientist said. In this case, the incidence will decline. At the same time, Gunzburg specified, it is necessary to constantly monitor the changes in the virus.

Many Russians are now being diagnosed with a delta strain of coronavirus, which is twice as infectious as the original version and continues to mutate.

As the director of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Gintsburg, pointed out, the supply of antibodies that Sputnik V vaccination gives is high enough to protect against all currently known variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
