Armenia Reported of Azerbaijani Airplane Shot down in Nagorno-Karabakh
OREANDA-NEWS. Air defense units of the unrecognized Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh shot down an attack aircraft Su-25 of the Azerbaijani Air Forces. The press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry Shushan Stepanyan reported this on October 12.
Earlier, Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of shelling in Nagorno-Karabakh area, despite the ceasefire. The ceasefire agreement was concluded on October 9 after the negotiations held in Moscow at the initiative of the Russian side. Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on a truce from 12:00 local time (08:00 UTC) the next day for the exchange of captives and bodies of the dead. In addition, the parties agreed, through the mediation of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, to start negotiations for the earliest possible achievement of a peaceful settlement of the situation in the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh.
